A German passport (Reisepass) or ID card (Personalausweis) needs a biometric photo in the 35×45 mm format with an evenly light background. This page prepares it from a recent picture: your face is found and centred automatically, then you download a file or a print sheet.
Note that authorities in Germany now accept only digital photos (ePassfoto) sent directly by the photographer, so check in advance what your office requires. Everything runs in your browser, so your photo is never uploaded.
Tips for an accepted passport photo
- Choose a plain, light background, ideally neutral grey, without shadows.
- Look straight into the camera with a neutral expression and your mouth closed.
- Both eyes must be clearly visible; avoid reflections on glasses.
- Use a recent photo without filters, smoothing or heavy editing.
- Print at actual size (100 %), not with “fit to page”.
