The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) uses the same personal photo rules for UAE passports, residence visas and Emirates ID cards. The photo must be recent, in colour, on a plain white background, with your face filling most of the frame. This page crops your portrait to the ICP format and centres your face automatically.
Everything runs in your browser, so your photo is never uploaded. The final decision on the photo always rests with the issuing authority.
Tips for an ICP photo
- Stand in front of a plain white wall with even light, so there are no shadows or flash reflections.
- Face the camera square on, head straight, with a neutral expression and your mouth closed.
- Keep both eyes open and free of hair; if you wear glasses, avoid tinted lenses and glare.
- A head covering is only allowed for religious reasons, and your face must stay visible from chin to forehead.
- Use a photo taken within the last six months, with natural skin tones and no filters or retouching.
